King Living sources the highest quality leathers to ensure your furniture looks amazing, is exceptionally durable and extremely comfortable. Leather is a natural product, and as a result has a protective coating that will resist most soiling and spills. However, it still needs to be cared for using suitable products and a gentle touch. Over cleaning or poor maintenance can damage the protective layer and cause the leather to deteriorate. To keep your leather looking luxurious and beautiful for longer, we recommend the following maintenance tips:
Pay special attention to areas that wear and come in direct contact with skin or hair, including seats, armrests and headrests. Dust your furniture weekly or use a soft vacuum attachment, to avoid the leather being scratched by loose particles. Depending on how often you use your leather furniture, apply King-Care® Leather Cleaner and Conditioner once every 6 to 8 weeks. Be careful not to clean more often than recommended to avoid deterioration of the protective surface, avoid vigorous rubbing and never soak your leather.
King-Care® cleaning and conditioning products are specially formulated for King Living leathers, and will clean and protect to maximise the life of your leather. King-Care® Leather Cleaning Kits are available in King Living Showrooms or online. Click here see our cleaning care kits and accessories.
This is particularly true with leather. In many cases, spills, stains and marks that are not cleaned within a few hours can become permanent. Protect your leather as soon as possible after delivery and it will make your job much easier if accidental spills occur. Please contact us if you require assistance with this.
Never use detergents, alcohol, chemicals, soaps, shoe polish, wax, window cleaner, silicone, saddle soap or any cleaning product not designed specifically for your type of leather. King Living also recommends not sitting on furniture when wearing wet swimming costumes and towels, as chlorine can damage the leather.
• Always be mindful that sharp or abrasive objects such as shoes, belt buckles and zippers can damage furniture.
• Dye transfer from clothes is also possible and ink stains from pens must be attended to quickly to avoid becoming permanent. An ink-away product may assist to remove the mark.
• Avoid sitting on furniture with wet swimming costumes or towels as this can leave a watermark on fabric, and can contribute to bleaching, mould growth and dye transfer.
• Do not attempt to use alcohol, chemicals or detergents as these may cause greater damage and discolouration.
• Professional cleaning on site every 12 to 18 months is highly recommended.

At King Living, we know there is more to a fabric choice than colour and design. Many King Fabrics are exclusive to us and all are exceptionally high quality. Every design in the King Fabrics collection has been rigorously tested for seam strength, abrasion resistance, colourfastness to light, cleaning and general wear and tear. King Living recommends the following care tips to ensure your fabrics look and feel good for a long time:
Pay special attention to areas that wear and come in direct contact with skin or hair, including seats, armrests and headrests. A weekly vacuum with low suction and a soft brush accessory will remove dust and damaging dirt particles, to help extend the life of your fabric and furniture.
In many cases, spills, stains and marks that are not cleaned immediately can become permanent. Protect your fabric as soon as possible after delivery and it will make your job much easier if accidental spills occur. Please contact us if you require assistance with this.
King-Care® cleaning products will clean, protect and maximise the life of your fabric. Depending on how frequently you use your furniture, apply King-Care® Fabric Cleaner and Protection every 6 to 8 weeks. King-Care® Fabric kits are available in King Living Showrooms or online. Be careful not to clean more often than recommended, avoid vigorous rubbing and never soak the fabric. Please never use detergents, soaps or any cleaning product not designed specifically for your fabric.
To ensure your King Living fabric keeps its luxurious look for longer, position it away from direct and indirect sunlight. The sun’s rays can not only cause fading but can also weaken fibres, which can lead to holes over time.
Through regular use, a single or group of loose fibres on the surface can twist and form tiny balls – also known as pilling. This should not be considered a fault. Loose fibres on clothes, blankets or throws, a speck of lint or dirt is often the catalyst for this twisting. The yarns used in weaving King Living Fabrics contain millions of individual fibres and the loss.
of a few on the surface as the fabric settles is quite normal. A regular vacuum will help to minimise this, however pilling can be successfully removed using a Fabric Pill Remover (available from department stores/haberdasheries) and does not affect the ongoing performance of the fabric.
• Always be mindful that sharp or abrasive objects such as shoes, belt buckles and zippers can pull fibres, which may develop into holes.
The quality of any fabric can be significantly impacted by a heater that produces sulphur compounds. When combined with humidity and oxygen, furnishing fabric can absorb these fumes, which can contribute to odour, discolouration and deterioration of the fibres.
If these cleaning methods are not performed correctly they can leave watermarks and cause cellulosic browning.
Minimise your pet’s contact with furniture as the natural oils and dirt from fur can cause discolouration.
Velvet is a luxurious textile created by a complex double weaving process that results in a densely plush nap. Shading, marking and texturing of the pile are an inherent characteristic of velvet and should not be considered a fault.
The best approach to these types of accidents is to leave the cloth in place until most or all of the liquid has been absorbed. Then allow the fabric to air-dry. Dabbing or rubbing will make the liquid penetrate further into the fibres.
If your fabric furniture is protected with a stain repellent, we still recommend regular vacuuming and maintenance. If you require protection for your fabric, KingGuard®+ Fabric Protection can be applied at any time in your home. Professional cleaning on site every 12 to 18 months is highly recommended. One of the best ways to keep King Living’s outdoor fabric by Sunbrella® looking good is to brush off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics and wipe up spills or clean soon after a stain occurs.
The quicker you clean spills and stains, the easier they can be to remove.
With a new spill or stain on your King Living outdoor fabrics by Sunbrella®
• Spray with a mild cleaning solution or KingCare® Fabric Cleaner. Gently brush the solution into the fabric and leave for 2-3 minutes, rinse with clean water then wipe over with a soft dye-free cloth or towel and allow to air dry.
• With a soft brush, remove any debris on furniture.
• Dampening the fabric with a light hosing down of water and clean with KingCare® Fabric Cleaner or a gentle solution of mild soap and warm water (max 40°C); gently brush the solution into the fabric and leave for 2-3 minutes, rinse with clean water then wipe over wiht a soft dye-free cloth or towel and allow to air dry.
• Please do not use a power washer (pressure hoses) to clean or rinse your King Outdoor furniture.
• Apply the KingGuard® spray-on protection at least once every season to maintain the weather resistant properties.
Immediately apply an absorbent such as corn starch directly on the oil-based stain. Let sit for 10 minutes and remove the excess using a straight edge or ruler. This helps remove the stain and prevents it from being pressed into the fabric. Then proceed with the cleaning process.
When cleaning upholstered pieces, clean the entire surface area of the fabric, from seam to seam, instead of rubbing only the affected area. This method, along with an extractor, may be required in order to avoid water rings and stains.
King Living’s outdoor fabric by Sunbrella® does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances if not removed from the fabric. To remove mould or mildew:
• Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of mild soap and mix with 4L of water.
• Spray on entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.
• Clean entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel and a very soft bristle brush.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Air dry.
For severe mould/mildew growth, bleach quantities may be increased. It is best to clean the entire surface area of the fabric to avoid water rings and stains.
Ensure that your preferred professional cleaner has experience working with King Living outdoor fabrics by Sunbrella® and have the knowledge of cleaning and re-treatment requirements.

King Living strives to provide the ultimate in comfort and support in all of its furniture designs. In particular, cushioning is designed to form to the shape of the user. Over time, your new King Living furniture will exhibit a soft, lived in appearance. Using your furniture is the best way to achieve maximum comfort and the desired appearance.
For the most consistent outcome, we recommend reversible cushions be rotated regularly, and that all seats on a sofa be used to develop the cushioning evenly.
If your sofa has feather cushions, these will require a little more attention. The soft feather blend in King Living cushions is secured in channels, similar to a superior quality bed doona. Channel lines may be slightly visible on the surface of some fabrics or leathers. This is a normal characteristic of high quality, soft feather blend cushioning.
King Living feather and Ultradown®* filled back and seat cushions need to be ‘plumped-up’ to maintain a neat appearance and shape. Pat the filling towards the centre area on seats and plump the back cushions regularly to ensure your cushions provide many years of comfort and support. Ultradown® is a man made product exclusive to King Living. Made from specially selected grades of hollow microfibres. Ultradown® is blended and formed into cloud-like balls of varying density and size. Softer fibres deliver personal comfort while firmer fibres offer bounce-back shape resilience.
Removable tailored covers provide you with flexible options for your King Living sofa and King Outdoor furniture. The tailored covers are easily removed or replaced – so when you feel like a fabric or colour change, or simply a fresh look for your sofa, recovering is easy. You can also change your fabric covers to leather and vice versa. Contact King-Care® and our consultants can assist you with recovering your sofa. Click here for contact details.
To help preserve the beauty of your rug we recommend vacuuming it once a week to avoid dust and dirt becoming embedded in the fibres.
Important: Please do not use water on Art Silk or Bamboo Silk rugs as this may permanently damage the rug.

As a natural product, timber veneer can feature variations in the grain, which add to the style and personality of this material. No two trees are exactly the same.
Caring for timber is just as important as caring for fabrics and leathers. Gentle dusting with a clean microfibre cloth will help maintain the beauty of your timber veneer. King Living also recommends placing your timber veneer furniture away from excess heat and/or humidity, which may cause the veneer to crack or warp as it expands and contracts due to temperature variations.
Keep your timber veneer furniture in pristine condition by avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or ultra violet light, which may cause discolouration or deterioration of the surface. Also place protective padding between the timber veneer and any object placed on it. This should be thicker for heavy, hot or abrasive objects that may severely damage the wooden surface.
To minimise scratching the timber veneer, avoid dragging objects across the surface. We also recommend not writing directly on top of timber veneer surfaces as pen or pencil marks may show.
Clean any spills immediately, do not allow nail polish remover, hair spray, perfume or strong corrosive solvents to come in contact with the timber veneer, and do not use any chemicals, detergents or any product containing silicon to clean timber veneer.
As a natural product, timber can feature variations in the grain, which add to the style and personality of this material. No two trees are exactly the same.
Natural materials like timber are also vulnerable to expansion and contraction from changing temperatures. King Living recommends placing timber furniture away from direct sunlight to avoid warping and discolouration.
To minimise scratching the timber, avoid dragging objects across the surface. We also recommend not writing directly on top of timber surfaces as pen or pencil marks may show.
Regular cleaning and dusting will help to keep the surface in top condition. Polish once a month with a proprietary brand of furniture polish to protect the surfaces and nourish unsealed timber. Be sure to test polish on an unseen area before use and follow application instructions carefully.
Do not use polishes containing silicon or products that leave a greasy film, and avoid general cleaning products on timber surfaces.
The stylish finish of stainless steel requires some upkeep to maintain its reflective beauty. Although not guaranteed to remain free from corrosion, following these instructions can help to maintain the finish on your stainless steel.
Chromium plated steel furniture can have a long-lasting, lustrous finish if it’s well cared for and regularly cleaned.
To ensure a long lasting, high quality finish, do not expose chromium plated steel to general cleaning products, water or salt air. Avoid silverware and brass cleaners as they may scratch and permanently damage the coating and never use steel wool (wire wool) to clean chromium plated steel.
Marble is an elegant, natural material that creates a truly unique aesthetic across a range of King Living designs. No two marble pieces are the same, which makes every piece of furniture as individual as you. One of the beautiful aspects of marble is that it develops its own variation in colour and tone over time.
To minimise scratching marble, avoid dragging objects across the surface. To protect this stunning surface from scratches and moisture damage we recommend using coasters and felt mats. You can also have the surface professionally sealed for long term protection.
A delicate approach to caring for this natural, porous material is required. Regularly clean the surface with a warm damp cloth, then wipe dry.
Wipe away spills immediately to avoid penetration of the surface and, if necessary, use a mix of water and mild soap to clean, then wipe dry. Do not saturate the surface.
Marble can be damaged by products with acidic properties such as juices, tomato sauce, detergents and corrosive liquids. Avoid contact with these types of substances as they can dull or stain the stone surface.
