King Living’s WeChat Christmas Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES



Standard data rates apply to participants who choose to participate in the Contest via a mobile device. Please contact your service provider for pricing and service plan information and rates before mobile device participation.



  1. The King Living WeChat Christmas contest (“Contest”) begins on Monday 1st December at 4:00:01pm PDT (“Contest Start Date”) and ends on Sunday, 20th December 2020 at 11:59:59pm PDT (the “Contest Period”).

  2. The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada (excluding residents of the province of Quebec) who have reached the legal age of majority in the province or territory in which he/she resides, EXCLUDING employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are living, whether related or not) of King Living Inc. (the “Contest Sponsor”), its parent organization, subsidiaries, affiliates, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies and any other entity involved in the development, production, administration, or fulfilment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties”).

  3. HOW TO ENTER

    NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. MAKING A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE OR OTHERWISE AFFECT YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING IN THIS CONTEST. To receive one (1) entry (an “Entry”) in the Contest, complete each of the following steps during the Contest Period:
      • Become a follower of the KING LIVING VANCOUVER WeChat official account (the “King Living Account”) (persons who, at the Contest Start Date, are already followers of the King Living Account are not eligible to receive an Entry). (Note: you can un-follow at any time after the Contest ends without affecting your chances of winning). There is no cost to becoming a follower or establishing a WeChat account;
      • Type KING in the text box that appears within the KING LIVING VANCOUVER WeChat official account and SEND;
      • Share, in your “personal moments” via the Social Platform, the picture received from the Contest Sponsor in response to the above step;
    • Take a screenshot of the shared picture in your “personal moments” via the Social Platform and post that screenshot in the backend of the King Living Account.
    To be eligible, all content and materials associated with your Entry must: (i) be submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period; (ii) satisfy all entry requirements; (iii) be in accordance with these Rules, including, but not limited to, the specific Submission Requirements listed below in Rule 7; and (iv) be in accordance with the applicable terms, rules, policies and guidelines of the Social Platform (the “Social Platform Rules”) (all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion).

    The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with WeChat (the “Social Platform”). The Social Platform is hereby completely released of all liability by each entrant in this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Contest Sponsor and not to the Social Platform. You may only use one (1) WeChat account to participate in this Contest.

    By entering the Contest, each entrant or purported entrant is deemed to have confirmed that such entrant has read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Official Contest Rules.

    The Contest Sponsor hereby grants to entrants a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, license to publish, display, and communicate to the public by telecommunication the picture received from the Contest Sponsor within the Social Platform and solely for the purpose of fulling the entry requirements set out above.

  4. There is a limit of one (1) Entry per person in the Contest. If it is discovered by the Contest Sponsor (using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Contest Sponsor) that any person has attempted to: (i) obtain more than one (1) Entry; and/or (ii) use multiple names, identities, email addresses or accounts (including without limitation, a Social Media account) and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s) to enter or otherwise participate in or to disrupt this Contest; then he/she may be disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor. Your Entry may be rejected if (in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor) the Entry is not fully completed with all required information and submitted and received in accordance with these Rules. The Released Parties (defined below) are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete, illegible or incompatible Entries (all of which are void). All entrants and Entries are subject to verification at any time and for any reason. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Contest Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification): (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Entry or other information entered (or purportedly entered) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Contest Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with these Rules. Failure to provide such proof to the complete satisfaction of the Contest Sponsor within the timeline specified by the Contest Sponsor may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of entry into this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).

  5. There is one (1) prize available to be won in the Contest, consisting of a King Living Seymour Low Back Swivel Chair in Byron Russett Fabric valued at $2,129 CAD (the “Prize”). The prize is not redeemable for cash or credit.

  6. Prize must be accepted as awarded. The Prize may not be sold, transferred and may not be converted, exchanged or surrendered, in whole or in part, for cash. Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute the Prize, in whole or in part, in the event that the Prize is unavailable for any reason whatsoever. All features of the Prize, except as otherwise explicitly stated above, are at the Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion. The Prize winner is solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein.

  7. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

    BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOU AGREE THAT THE ENTRY (AND EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT THEREOF – INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY POSTS OR OTHER SUBMITTED ENTRY MATERIALS (COLLECTIVELY, “ENTRY MATERIALS”)) COMPLIES WITH ALL CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE RULES. THE RELEASED PARTIES WILL BEAR NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER REGARDING: (I) THE USE OF YOUR ENTRY (OR ANY COMPONENT THEREOF – INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE ENTRY MATERIALS); (II) PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST-RELATED ACTIVITIES; (III) ANY USE, COLLECTION, STORAGE AND DISCLOSURE OF ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION; AND/OR (IV) IF DECLARED THE WINNER, THE PRIZE (INCLUDING ANY USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE). THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY YOU IN THE EVENT IT IS DISCOVERED THAT YOU HAVE DEPARTED FROM OR NOT OTHERWISE FULLY COMPLIED WITH ANY OF THESE RULES AND/OR ANY APPLICABLE SOCIAL PLATFORM RULES. THIS RELEASE AND INDEMNITY SHALL CONTINUE IN FORCE FOLLOWING THE TERMINATION OF THE CONTEST AND/OR AWARDING OF ANY PRIZES.

    By participating in the Contest, each entrant hereby warrants and represents that any Entry Materials he/she shares in his/her “personal moments” via the Social Platform or otherwise:
    1. are original to him/her and that the entrant has obtained all necessary rights in and to the Entry Materials for the purposes of entering such Entry Materials in the Contest;
    2. do not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation;
    3. do not contain any reference to or likeness of any identifiable third parties, unless consent has been obtained from all such individuals and their parent/legal guardian if they are under the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence;
    4. will not give rise to any claims whatsoever, including, without limitation, claims of infringement, invasion of privacy or publicity, or infringe on any rights and/or interests of any third party; and
    5. are not defamatory, trade libelous, pornographic or obscene, and further that such Entry Materials will not contain, depict, include, discuss or involve, without limitation, any of the following: nudity; alcohol/drug consumption or smoking; explicit or graphic sexual activity, or sexual innuendo; crude, vulgar or offensive language and/or symbols; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual, religious or other groups (including, without limitation, any competitors of the Contest Sponsor); content that endorses, condones and/or discusses any illegal, inappropriate or risky behaviour or conduct; personal information of individuals, including, without limitation, names, telephone numbers and addresses (physical or electronic); commercial messages, comparisons or solicitations for products or services other than products of the Contest Sponsor; any identifiable third party products, trade-marks, brands and/or logos, other than those of the Contest Sponsor (e.g. any clothing worn and/or products appearing in your Entry Materials must not contain any visible logos, trade-marks or other third party materials unless the appropriate consents have been obtained --- note: all identifiable third party products, trade-marks, brands and/or logos for which consent has not been obtained by the entrant must be blurred out so as to be unrecognizable); conduct or other activities in violation of these Rules; and/or any other materials that are or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion.
    The Contest Sponsor and/or its promotional agency or designated content moderator (the “Reviewer”) reserves the right to screen or review all Entry Materials. Any Entry Materials that the Reviewer deems, in its sole and absolute discretion, to violate the terms and conditions set forth in these Rules are subject to disqualification. The Reviewer reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion at any time and for any reason, to remove any Entry Materials (or any part thereof) and/or to request an entrant to modify, edit, remove and/or re-submit his or her Entry Materials (or any part thereof) in order to help ensure that the Entry Materials comply with these Rules, or for any other reason. If such an action is necessary at any point during or after the Contest, then the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take whatever action it deems necessary based on the circumstances – including, without limitation, disqualifying the Entry Materials (and therefore the corresponding Entry and/or the associated entrant) – to help ensure that the Contest is being conducted in accordance with the Contest Sponsor’s interpretation of the letter and spirit of these Rules.

  8. On Tuesday 22nd December (the “Draw Date”) at 11:00 am AEST, a random draw for the Prize will take place at King Living 123 Turrella Street, Turrella NSW 2205 Australia from among all eligible Entries received in accordance with these Rules. The first entrant drawn will be deemed to be the potential Prize winner, subject to compliance with these Rules. The potential winner will be notified by a King Living representative at King Living Vancouver 3097 Granville Street Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3J9 Canada. The odds of winning the Prize will depend on the number of eligible Entries received. The Contest Sponsor, acting reasonably, will attempt to contact the potential Prize winner, to notify him/her that he or she may have won the Prize, by telephone or email (as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) within three (3) business days after the draw. In the event that the potential winner cannot be contacted within such time, he or she may be disqualified, and an alternate potential winner may be drawn, at the Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion (in which case the foregoing provisions of this Rule shall apply to such newly selected potential winner). Proof of identification must be provided upon request. In order to be declared the winner, the potential winner must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill testing question administered by the Contest Sponsor (which may, at the Contest Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, be administered via the full declaration and release form described in the following sentence). Before being awarded the Prize, the potential winner, will be required to sign and return within the time stipulated by the Contest Sponsor, a full declaration and release form stating that, among other things, he/she has read and understood these Rules, grants all consents required, authorizes the Contest Sponsor to broadcast, publish, disseminate and otherwise use his/her name, city/town/village and province/territory of residence, photograph, voice and any other likeness, in connection with any promotion and/or publicity, and/or for general news, entertainment and/or information purposes at no additional compensation to the potential winner, beyond the awarding of or participation in the Prize, accepts the Prize as awarded and releases the Contest Parties and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof. If the potential Prize winner: (a) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; (b) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; (c) cannot accept (or is unwilling to accept) the Prize (as awarded) for any reason; and/or (d) is determined to be in violation of these Rules (all as determined by the Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor, be disqualified (and, if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to the Prize) and the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to randomly select an alternate eligible entrant from among the remaining eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period (in which case the foregoing provisions of this Rule shall apply to such new potential Prize winner).

  9. All decisions of the Contest Sponsor with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility of Entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this Contest, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of Entries and/or entrants. ANYONE DEEMED BY THE CONTEST SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE CONTEST SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.

  10. All Entries become the property of the Contest Sponsor. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial/territorial and municipal laws. The Released Parties will not be liable for: (i) any failure of any website or application (including, without limitation, the Social Platform) during the Contest; (ii) any technical malfunction or other problems of any nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, those relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; (iii) the failure of any Entry or other information to be received, captured or recorded for any reason whatsoever, including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at, or in relation to, any website or application (including, without limitation, the Social Platform); (iv) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the Contest; and/or (v) any combination of the above. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an Entry, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require an entrant to provide proof (in a form acceptable to the Contest Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification and satisfactory evidence of account registration) of his her/identity and that he/she is the authorized account holder of the Social Platform account associated with the Entry in question. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Contest Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, including, without limitation, any error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failure. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Contest Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law. The Sponsor reserves the right to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Contest mechanics stipulated in these Rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant or Entry with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Contest Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason.

  11. By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Contest Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her Entry or any communications with the Contest Sponsor for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Contest Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: www.kingliving.ca/privacy-policy/ . This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Contest Sponsor or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of his/her personal information, whether in connection with this Contest or otherwise.

  12. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest related materials, including but not limited to disclosures or statements contained on any website, or point of sale, television, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of the Rules shall prevail, govern and control.

  13. All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade-names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations used by the Contest Sponsor in connection with the Contest are owned by the Contest Sponsor and/or its licensors or affiliates. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
