How would you describe the design look and feel you’ve created, what was your inspiration?

I took inspiration from international artist Yves Klein and the rich, deep blue colour he created known as Klein blue.

I designed the scheme to be elegant and chic with a monochrome background to allow the Klein blue to accent the space.

Describe your signature style and the mood you have created in your lounge room at home?

I would describe my signature style as "modern luxe”.

When designing a space I always want to create an element of glamour but more importantly a space that feels layered and has soul. By incorporating textural elements and interesting quirky pieces against a monochrome base, it allows the space to have many different elements that come together to create one beautifully styled and layered room.

What do you like most about the King Living sofa you styled?

I love the generous proportions of the Neo sofa, and the fact that you can re-configure the chaise to suit you. This allows you to move things around and change your space without having to change the sofa itself.

The design has traditional elements, which make it an instant classic, but is also contemporary and modern.

What's your top styling tip?

Always strive to create layers in your space.

By using trays or books to elevate and showcase your accessories, or different fabrics (like I used in this scheme by mixing velvet and linen) you can create layers and texture within a monochromatic space so it has depth and dimension and doesn’t feel flat or too safe.

What are the emerging trends for Winter?

In terms of colour - dusty pink, duck egg blue and shades of green are the hottest shades. Brass, copper and gold are the perfect materials to accent with accessories and natural elements such as chunky woollen and linen knits, raw timber and marble are also trending right now.

What's the one item every living room should have?

I’m going to be cheeky and say two - candles and books. I love creating a space that has beautiful accessories and furnishings but creating a sensory experience within a space using scented candles is key. Books give your space a soul and are the perfect styling tool to create vignettes and #shelfies!
