Since the company was established in 1977 company founder, David King and King Living’s team of in-house designers, have always strived for the best design solution; spending hours on research and development and in doing so, achieving major milestones for Australian industrial design. In particular David King’s 1987 idea to utilize an engineered steel frame supported by King Living’s Postureflex® Seating System, similar to that found in the seats of the world’s greatest motor vehicles, put King Living at the forefront of furniture design. It was this strong foundation that eventually led to the creation of the Jasper, King Living’s most iconic multi-award-winning design launched in 2005.

Innovation has always been at the heart of King Living, and this has manifested most recently with the launch of Integrated Touchglide® Technology and wireless charging tables available with selected designs.

In 2014, King Living embarked on expanding internationally with new Showroom openings in New Zealand and Singapore. Meanwhile, existing showrooms in Australia are constantly being upgraded with the latest technology to make furniture shopping even easier.

“Four decades later and King Living is still a family owned and run Australian company, proud of its past and excited about its future.”

King Living CEO, Anna Carrabs

Now with 17 stores and employing 700 staff internationally, King Living furniture is enjoyed by people all over the globe, appearing everywhere from historic country homes, to urban studio apartments.

Over the last 40 years King Living has fostered the evolution of the sofa to a highly flexible seating system for contemporary lifestyles. The best demonstration of which is the Delta III, released in 2017 as an updated and redesigned version of King Living’s very first Delta modular sofa introduced in 1998. In 2004, the Delta appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and then was chosen as the ‘sofa-of-choice’ for the Vanity Fair Oscar’s after-party in 2007, and again in 2010. Many of the company’s sofas have gone on to become icons of local and international design.
